A Few words about Framing
Framing your Artwork
Image: Wooden frame with coloured splines by Wessel Snyman Creative
To preserve the quality and integrity of your artwork, we recommend that you have the work framed by a reputable, bespoke fine art framer. Framing should focus on archiving while at the same time allowing the artwork to be displayed and viewed as intended.
It is recommended that you use archival or museum framing with acid-free mounting boards and frames made from durable materials such as aluminium, white or natural wood, e.g. kiaat, walnut, oak, maple or beech wood. If you are unsure about which frames to choose, it is best to take the artwork to a professional framer for advice.
Additionally, we recommend that you hang your framed artworks away from moisture, extreme heat, direct sunlight, or strong UV light exposure. For any further questions or recommendations regarding framing and conserving your artwork, please contact me.
